About Us - Instructors

Quentin Germann PA-C

Founder and Lead Instructor of SutureSmart Workshops

  • 5 years experience as an Emergency Medicine PA at both Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) and St. Joseph Hospital of Orange

  • All non-OR lacerations are almost exclusively repaired by the PA's at both of these Emergency Departments, so I have extensive experience with simple to very complex lacerations in both pediatric and adult patients

  • Very frequent Clinical PA Student Preceptor at both hospitals.

  • Awarded "PA of the Year" in 2023 at both CHOC and St. Joseph Emergency Departments

  • 3 years experience as an instructor at Chapman University's PA Program - primarily teaching the Clinical Skills (Suturing) Lab during those 3 years

  • Most importantly: I started my career as a new graduate PA in the Emergency Department - so I fully understand the unimaginable stress (and borderline fear) that comes with confronting laceration repairs as a new/less experienced provider. I would have loved a hands-on, individualized workshop to perfect my skills early on. This workshop fills that need.

  • I know that most, if not all, providers can benefit from a workshop like SutureSmart to perfect the necessary skills needed to feel confident with any laceration that comes into your ER or clinic.

  • Laceration Repair can be the most satisfying part of any shift - or the most fear-inducing. These workshops will help eliminate any fear or anxiety in suturing, and help you fully enjoy these patient encounters.

  • Suturing/Laceration Repair is the exact union of the Art and Science of Medicine - We are lucky to get to be a part of it!

"This workshop was exactly what I needed going into my surgery and EM rotations. The teaching was clear, hands-on, and way more personalized than anything I’ve had in school or my prior rotations. I left feeling confident and actually excited to suture in real cases."
